UNLOCK YOUR UNLIMITED FUTURE CHALLENGE

Western Sydney University's ('WSU') is excited to present the Unlock Your Unlimited Future Challenge ('Unlimited Future Challenge').
The Unlimited Future Challenge will commence on 29 October 2024 and be conducted in Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and The Philippines. Entrants will develop skills in areas including computer science, nursing, business and engineering.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.  Entry to this competition is open to High School students who are citizens and residents of Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam or The Philippines and who are aged between 15 and 19 years of age as of 29 October 2024. By entering this competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2.  Employees of Western Sydney University (WSU), any related corporation of WSU or any commercial agency involved in promoting this competition (and their immediate families) are ineligible to enter.

3.  Entry into this competition is free. Entrants are responsible for their own costs of participating in the competition.

4.  This competition has two parts:

a. The Game Mission Competition, where entrants who successfully complete game missions are entered into weekly and regional prize draws; and
b. The Essay Competition, where entrants who have completed a Game Mission are invited to submit an essay and video submission. The winner of the Essay Competition will win the grand prize of a four (4) night customised trip to Sydney.

Game Mission Competition

5.  How to enter the Game Mission Competition:

a. Register online for the Game Mission Competition at https://unlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ by 30 December 2024 with the following information:

I. the participant's full name and age;
II. the participant's telephone number and email address;
III. the participant's nationality and current region of residence; and
IV. a completed parent/guardian consent form for the participant if they are below the age of 18 years old.


b. Complete up to four (4) game missions (Computer Science, Nursing, Business or Engineering) accessible online at https://unlockunlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ ('Game Mission') by 12:00pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) on 30 December 2024. Log-in details for the Game Missions will be provided to entrants via email after online registration. Each completed Game Mission will give that participant one (1) entry in the Weekly Prize draw, up to a maximum of four (4) entries in total. A Game Mission can only be completed once.
c. The available Game Missions are:

I. Nursing & Midwifery: A time-based problem-solving game simulating the diverse daily activities within Clinical Practice Units, offering players a glimpse into nursing skills and compassion.
II. Technology: A mini-coding game, set within the Human Machine Interaction Lab.
III. Engineering: A solution-based game focusing on the art of bridge design, where entrants learn how different bridge designs address specific challenges.
IV. Business: A resource management game where players have the opportunity to launch their own business.

6.  Entrants who fulfil the entry requirements and complete a Game Mission will be entered in the Weekly Prize draw and will be eligible for a Weekly Prize. Entrants are eligible for up to four (4) entries in total in the Weekly Prize draw based on the number of Game Missions completed. Weekly Prize and Weekly Prize draw details are:

a. Weekly Prize: Each winner will receive one item of WSU campaign merchandise randomly selected by WSU, which could include but is not limited to baseball caps, koala plushies, mouse pads, or umbrellas.
b. Weekly Prize draw: Each week for a total of nine (9) weeks from 29 October 2024 to 30 December 2024, a draw will be conducted of all eligible entries in the Game Mission Competition. There will be fifteen (15) winners selected at random per week for the first seven (7) weeks from 29 October 2024 to 16 December 2024. There will be twenty (20) winners selected at random per week during the final two (2) weeks from 17 December 2024 to 30 December 2024 for each country.
c. The Weekly Prize draw will be conducted on Tuesdays after the competition opens with the first draw on Tuesday, 5 November 2024. Weekly winners will be announced each Monday in the week following the relevant draw at https://unlockunlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ starting from Monday, 11 November 2024.
d. Entrants are only eligible to win the Weekly Prize once during the competition period.
e. An eligible entry that does not win a Weekly Prize will be included in subsequent Weekly Prize draws.

7.  Entrants who fulfil the entry requirements and complete a Game Mission will also be entered in the Regional Prize draw and will be eligible for a Regional Prize. Entrants are eligible for up to four (4) entries in total in the Regional Prize draw based on the number of Game Missions completed. Weekly Prize winners remain eligible for a Regional Prize.

a. Regional Prizes: There are 6 Regional Prizes for each participating country (Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and The Philippines): three (3) Paper Shoot cameras and three (3) ergonomic Logitech Wave Ergonomic wireless keyboards.
b. Regional Prize draw: There will be one (1) Regional Prize draw, conducted every three (3) weeks starting 19 November 2024. Winners will be selected at random. Every three (3) weeks there will be two (2) winners selected from each participating country. One (1) winner from each participating country will receive a Paper Shoot camera, and one (1) winner will receive a Logitech keyboard.
c. Winners of the Regional Prize draw will be announced at https://unlockunlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ every three (3) weeks starting from 19 November 2024.

8.  WSU will contact the winners of Weekly and Regional Prizes by telephone and/or email within seven (7) days of the winner announcement to confirm address details for delivery of the prize.

9.  Prizes will be delivered to the address provided by the winner(s) within 30 days of confirming address details. WSU is not responsible for any unforeseen delivery delays.

Essay Competition

10.  Entrants who complete a Game Mission in the Game Mission Competition are eligible to enter the Essay Competition.

11.  Entrants wishing to participate in the Essay Competition must submit a 500-word essay focused on one (1) of the study fields from the Game Missions (Nursing & Midwifery, Computer Science, Engineering or Business) or another relevant field, that best aligns with the entrant's future career goals. The essays must be in English. The essay should answer the following questions:

a. What is your dream career or project after graduation?
b. Which program at WSU could help you achieve that goal? Explain why?
c. What facilities would you like to see if you visited WSU's Australian campus(es)?

12.  Entrants are permitted one (1) entry in the Essay Competition, regardless of the number of Game Missions the entrant has completed.

13.  Essays must be submitted via the link provided at the Game Mission microsite https://unlockunlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ by 30 December 2024. Once submitted, the essay is final and cannot be edited.

14.  Entries in the Essay Competition will be assessed by a panel of judges appointed by WSU. The judging panel will assess entries based on the following criteria:

a. Dream Career/Project: Is the career or project clearly framed and well explained?
b. WSU Course: Does the essay demonstrate understanding of the WSU course, with a clear rationale for why that course will help achieve the entrant's goals?
c. Facilities: Does the entrant show an understanding of WSU's schools and facilities?

15.  The judging panel will select three (3) Essay Competition finalists from each participating country (Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and The Philippines) ('the Finalists'). The Finalists will be announced on https://unlockunlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ by 20 January 2024. The three (3) selected Essay Competition finalists from each participating country (Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and The Philippines) will receive a Paper Shoot camera as a prize for reaching the final round.

16.  The Finalists will be invited to submit a video, no longer than two (2) minutes, that pitches their Essay Competition entry ('Video Submission'). Videos must be submitted via the https://unlockunlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ by no later than 31 January 2025.

17.  The Video Submission criteria is as follows:

a. No PowerPoint slides: The use of props is allowed, but no PowerPoint slides should be included.
b. Structured Approach: The video should have a logical flow and progress in a coherent manner.
c. Time Management: The video must stay within the two (2) minute limit.
d. Content Requirements: The video must:

I. Dream Career/Project: Clearly frame your dream career or project after graduation. within Clinical Practice Units, offering players a glimpse into nursing skills and compassion.
II. WSU Course: Demonstrate an understanding of which course at WSU could help you achieve your career goals and provide a clear statement of why this course is suitable.
III. Facilities: Does the entrant show an understanding of WSU's schools and facilities?

18.  The judging panel will evaluate all Video Submissions and select one (1) winner of the Essay Competition based on the criteria outlined in paragraph 14 and 17 above. The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome.

19.  The winner of the Essay Competition will be announced https://unlockunlimitedfuture.westernsydney.edu.au/ on 10 February 2024. WSU will also notify the winner by telephone and/or email.

20.  The winner of the Essay Competition will win the Grand Prize, which is a customised trip to Sydney, Australia for four (4) nights for the winner and one (1) companion (which must be a parent or guardian if the winner is under 18 years old). The Grand Prize includes:

a. return economy class flights and accommodation in Sydney for 4 nights (Airbnb or minimum 3-star hotel);
b. tourist visa application fees;
c. transport between Sydney Airport and the winner's accommodation;
d. meals or meal allowances during the travel dates;
e. visits to WSU Parramatta campuses;
f. WSU skill development activities and meetings with WSU School representatives; and
g. a Sydney city tour.

21.  Transport from the winner's home to the departure airport is not included.

22.  Travel dates for the Grand Prize will be between 30 February 2025 and 30 April 2025. This travel window cannot be changed.

23.  If the winner is unable to take the Grand Prize, WSU may, at its discretion and in consultation with the judging panel, select an alternate winner to receive the prize.

24.  Additional conditions in relation to the Grand Prize:

a. By entering this competition, and by collecting the prize, entrants acknowledge and accept that travel and any other activities comprising the prize are at their own risk. WSU is not responsible for any acts of Gd, such as adverse weather conditions or industrial action or civil commotion that may occur whilst the winner is traveling. It is the responsibility of the winner to enquire about local issues and conditions at destinations prior to travel. WSU does not guarantee that the winner will enjoy the prize or be suited to the type of travel prize that is offered.
b. The prize winner must travel on the same flights and itinerary as their traveling companion. The travel prize cannot be used as part payment for another airfare package. Frequent flyer points cannot be accrued on this prize. Flights and accommodation are subject to availability at the time of booking and cannot be exchanged for other destinations. Bookings are subject to conditions & availability.
c. Prize winners under 18 years old must submit a consent form from their parent/guardian to confirm that they are eligible to accept the travel prize. WSU reserves the right to require proof of such consent.
d. Compliance with any health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the prize winner and their travelling companion. All travel will be subject to the carrier's General Conditions of Carriage. WSU makes no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including local government, local consular offices and the web site of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade at https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/.
e. WSU will provide travel insurance cover (including medical insurance) for the prize winner and their travelling companion for the period of travel in Australia.

Additional Terms and Conditions - Game Mission and Essay Competitions

25.  The following terms and conditions apply to both the Game Mission Competition and the Essay Competition.

26.  Entries that do not comply with the entry requirements set out in these terms and conditions will be invalid.

27.  Any entry received after the nominated entry closing date will be invalid. No responsibility is accepted for lost, delayed or misdirected entries. All entries become the property of WSU and will not be returned.

28.  WSU reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the original prize is unavailable. Prizes are not transferable, and no alternatives or cash substitutes will be offered.

29.  If circumstances arise that prevents or hinders WSU's ability to conduct the competition or to deliver a prize, WSU may in its discretion, cancel the competition and recommence it at another time under the same terms and conditions or select an alternate winner.

30.  Once prizes have been delivered or accepted, no responsibility is accepted for prizes including any damage or loss that may occur.

31.  WSU is not responsible for any inaccuracies, errors, or omissions (technical or otherwise) that may occur during the competition. WSU accepts no liability for any error, interruption, deletion, defect, delay, communications line failure, theft, destruction, unauthorized access, or alteration of entries.

32.  To the full extent permitted by law, WSU will not be liable for any injury, damages, expenses, or loss whatsoever (whether direct or consequential) arising from participation in the competition or acceptance and use of the prize.

33.  WSU reserves the right, at any time, to independently verify the validity of any entry or claim for the prize (including, without limitation, identity and personal details of the entrant or, if under the age of 18 years, their parent/guardian) and to reject that entry or claim if it cannot be verified to WSU's satisfaction.

34.  Any entrant who submits an entry or claims for the prize that is false or is not in accordance with these terms and conditions, or who tampers with the competition process in any way, will be automatically disqualified.

35.  WSU collects personal information in order to conduct this competition and, for this purpose, may disclose that information to third parties including agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, if required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Entry to this competition is conditional on entrants providing this information and consenting to disclosure. WSU may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised by an entrant, use the information for personal marketing, and publicity purposes, including sending email to, or telephoning, entrants.

36.   WSU adheres to the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) and its privacy policy including by only using personal information for the purpose it was collected or consented to be collected, and for related secondary purposes. For more information, please refer to the WSU Privacy Policy and Privacy Management Plan. If entrants have any questions in relation to privacy, or wish to access, update and/or change their personal information, they should contact WSU's Privacy Officer by emailing privacy@westernsydney.edu.au.

37.  Entrants consent to WSU using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in any media (including photographs, film or sound recordings) for an unlimited period without compensation or remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition (and any outcome) and promoting WSU or its products and services.

38.  Entrants will own any intellectual property rights in entries and pitches presented for the competition ('Competition Materials'). It is a condition of entry that entrants grant to WSU a worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license in Competition Materials created by entrants for the purposes of WSU promoting the competition, providing publicity about the competition and promoting WSU or its products and services. Entrants agree to take all necessary steps to effect the grant of this license.

39.  By entering this competition, each entrant releases WSU, its directors, officers, employees and agents from, and indemnifies each of them against, any and all liability or any loss, damage or injury of any kind arising from or in connection with this competition or the prize.

40.  This competition is for the purpose of promoting WSU and building relationships between WSU and the education sector in Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and The Philippines. The competition is not for political purposes and there is no intention to allow entrants to use the competition to promote any political party in Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam or The Philippines.

41.  These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
